BBG There & Back To Kansas City BBQ RTE

June 10, 2016 To June 12, 2016

Fort Lauderdale, FL To Kansas City, KS

I have been trying to make it to Bob Rippy's Kansas City RTE at Sneads BBQ for a few years and each time I made plans something would come up that would keep me from being able to go. This is one of those RTE's that I have been trying to get to for a few years just like Dan Tanji's Bite The Wieeenie" at Pinks Hot Dog, Los Angeles, CA that I finally made it to last year. Well this looks like the year I am going to be able to make this RTE. I am hoping to visit with a lot of friends I only get to see every year or so.

I will be attempting a BBG on the ride out to the RTE and a BBG on the ride back home. My route is nice 1515 miles each way. If I am successful on both of these BBG's they will be my 35 and 36 BBG's.

This ride will also give me the opportunity to test out my fully farkled out BMW RT and see how comfortable I feel after a 3000+ mile ride in less than 3 days. I have pretty much finished adding all of the "required" LD farkles like AUX tank and AUX lights and now I need to see how it all works together.

Below are two interactive maps ( Google Route and Spotwalla ) that you can zoom in and out using the + and - buttons in the bottom right of the map and drag the map with a mouse. They show my planned route ( Google Maps ) and my current location with the use of a SPOT satellite tracking device ( Spotwalla ).

There is also a national weather radar map below those two maps where you can see the weather along my route.

I will start the ride from home late Friday night or early Saturday morning depending on work and the weather. I plan to arrive in Kansas City late Saturday night to be able to get some sleep before the RTE and then after the RTE I will ride back home attempting another BBG following the same route. I live 1470 miles from my destination so adding another 50 miles was not that big of a deal. Instead of taking the direct route up the Florida Turnpike I am riding across Alligator Alley ( I-75 ) and will take I-75 all the way to Chattanooga where I will switch to I-24. I will ride I-24 to I-57 to I-64 to I-70 riding west towards Kansas City.

I will be riding home starting the Saturday after KC BBQ RTE following the same route that I took on the way to the KC BBQ RTE.

This is my planned route
